Yes, a live report from the Axalp area (courtesy of wi-fi in hotel). Firstly, apologies for not posting a link to the webcam...

Yes, good point - its a bit windy for the Kilt I'm afraid and the bagpipes might frighten the marmots  I'll just listen for the sound of salsa music from your camp. My wife has bought a bright pink waterproof jacket for the climb so she should be quite easily recognised. She's also about 30cm ...

Just one final point for deciding whether to use the chairlift or not - it will cut about an hour off your walking time BUT its the easy bit that it cuts off - the gentle sloping road! The real climbing starts AFTER the end of the chairlift, nearer the top. I must be mad, I'm doing it all again this...

If the chairlift opens at 0730 I understand it is too late to see the morning practice from the top of the Ebenfluch or the Tschingel... -dolfo Well, going by my experiences last year. I'm not quite sure about the parking permit. We arrived at some ungodly hour while it was still dark and parked in...

Many thanks, Pieter. It was quite an impressive flypast. On the Sunday, it actually seemed even more impressive from the motorway as the whole formation passed us at flypast height, several miles from the airfield. The MI-17/171s actually flew past the Vyskov museum at low level on their way home to...

Hi Frank Read your report of last year and it brought back some great memories. Hopefully this year will be just as good. I've been watching the various webcams of the area and its been snowing today. So long as the clouds get out of the way, this should help to reflect the light at the top. Roll on...

Thanks for the MI-8 tieup, Patrick. Another query:- I think I managed to identify all the flypast aircraft on the Saturday from my photos. On the Sunday though, we saw the flypast from the motorway on our way to Vyskov. Apart from the addition of the A319 which was not present on Saturday, can anyon...

MI-8/17 Departure late Sat

Can anyone identify the White/Blue MI-8/17 which departed late Sat afternoon from the far end. (He departed just before the Orao display) we were in the queue for the bus at the time. We also noted a large twin in the civil area when we drove past on the motorway on Sunday - this might have been the...
