Fifty years after the delivery of the first Sea King Mk.41 to MFG 5 at Kiel-Holtenau on March 20th 1974 a MFG 5 helicopter formation departed from Nordholz and flew to Kiel-Holtenau via Kiel city hall, Schleswig-Holstein federal state government, Kieler Förde and Laboe submarine memorial to the wings former base.
The celebration formation comprised of Sea King Mk.41 89+63 (in special colourscheme) and 89+68 which both landed at 14.00h (the same time as fifty years ago) at the „Unterland“ and NH90NTH 79+56 and 79+62 (photoship) which both overflew only.
The new special coloured 89+58 wasn’t part of the formation, because it isn’t still officially unveiled.
