Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

I agree with Felipe, even if it is just one link to search the name. For the person posting the log it is even less, because he (/she) has been there and knows the name.

So why not being a little more accomodating to all the others on this board and type those few extra letters. Just once, so many others do not have to search everytime. It really is not that difficult, is it?

I second that.
Don't write in riddles, please. Use the normal names.

Hans.

I support this also.
And please give some comments with the photo’s where and how they where made.
Sometimes the exif is not present. Please if that is the case, make a remark which camera and lens the photo’s where shot.
Kind regards

Eh Key.....

I remember that there is a possibility in this forum software to change words automatically when they are uploaded. This feature is used to delete cursing, but I have also seen other forums where specific words are changed.

Would it be possible to set a filter to change common codes automatically ? Like "EHAM" is changed into "EHAM (Schiphol)" and EHGR is changed into "EHGR (Gilze-Rijen)" ? This would work throughout the forum, and you would only have to configure these changes just once. Next to that they would generate a "common standard" of writing ICAO and full names, thus triggering others to do the same manually when uncommon codes are used.

Would this be an option for Scramble ?

Another, more rigurous approach, would be to lock all topics with incorrect titles until the author resets them correctly. This way people will do it correctly when they notice that they don't get any response. I will be happy to help you moderate.......

Just thinking with you....

Cheers,
Iwan

Iwan,

Just thinking with you. Could this be an option: Fort Worth - Alliance (AFW / KAFW) or (AFW / KAFW) Fort Worth - Alliance?

I agree that the whole name should be given in the header of the post.

Hi Iwan,

This works, just tested it. I am not sure whether this leads to even more "errors" than we are already experiencing recently... so Hans needs to assess whether it is a viable option.

But; it works and I like the suggestion!

Stefan

If it doesn't generate more "errors" I would love to see this happen as well! It's a big annoyance to see those airfield codes all the time, and for some reason repeated requests to type names instead of this, a lot of people can't be bothered apparently. If this could be changed automatically a lot of annoyance will be gone!
So many thanks in advance ;-)

If I do see a code which I don´t know then I´m not opening the topic.
It´s just that simple. I bet that a lot of clicks are getting lost because of
saving those 2 seconds...
