Spotten in Noorwegen, do's and dont's?

Post by Sven van Roij »

Hallo allemaal,

Weet iemand hoe men in Noorwegen tegenover spotters staat? Enkele tips, do's and dont's van voorgangers zouden erg welkom zijn!

Alvast bedankt!

Sven

I dont understand Dutch, but I can see that you are talking about Bodø.

I have had first hand experience with the Military Police at Bodo Airport. Photography is unfourtanley prohibited at Bodo MAS, I dont understand why though.

Actually, I even talked with a friend of me who works as Ground Crew for the military, towing the Fighters and such, and on the map he received, the shelters were actually not included! How is that for stupid? He's supposed to tow fighters on the area, but the map he got dosent show the shelters where the Fighters are parked :S

Anyway, as I said, Photography is prohibited at Bodø, as well as Rygge, Orland and Bardufoss.

That doesnt mean that you wont get any good pictures though, it just means that you have to stay away from the fences (Which in turn means that you'll need a lens on 300mm or greater)

I'll try to find some pictures I've taken from Bodø

Hi Sven,

Spent a couple of hours at the police station of Moss, after being 'caught' spotting at Rygge. Was a long time ago though... But, in general, it appears that NOW102s advice (staying away from the fences) should be taken into consideration.

Regards,
Stefan

Thanks guys for the usefull tips already! Too bad the MP's are so strict in Norway. I can hardly imagine it after my great experience in Switzerland!

Anyway, I'm still going up north, but will keep my distance  . In the case I do get caught: does the MP only order you to delete the photos or do they take your equipment aswell (can't almost imagine it but...)

@NOW103: from your story I can see you're more often at Norwegian airbases than I am. Do you have some kind of a layout / map which points out good spotting places? Scramble's "Where to go" section seems to be incomplete!

Thanks in advance

Well, I live in Bodø so yeah. I havent been at any airbases other than Bodø and Rygge. Rygge was on an Airshow, on the north side (Military side) I dont have a map for that no, but I can make one. I'll try to get some pictures from the different places as well, but it will have to wait until next week. On Friday I leave to the UK. RAF Fairford
