Besides Russia Kazakhstan is the sole foreign operator of this aircraft. In contradiction to most of the upgrade programs, the upgrade of the MiG-31 was conducted in the Rhzev ARZ in Russia. A contract for the refurbishment of ten Mig-31s was signed at the MAKS 2007 aerospace show, including 08 red. If all aircraft have actually passed this program is unclear. The MiG-31s are all appointed to 610 Air Base Karaganda.
