Roth used to be home to KHR26, flying the Bo105P helicopter. The unit left the base in 2013 and was disbanded the next year. New infrastructure for the envisioned Tiger operations was mainly used for storage. The airfield lost its military status in 2014 but remains useable by prior permission. The only users nowadays are rare military charters, the local gliding club and deployed Bavarian police helicopters.
The base is situated in the middle of a forest southeast of Roth, along road B2. No successful attempts of spotting from the outside are known to us. There is a short east-west runway with a grass strip north of it. South of these, the taxiways, aprons and hangars are situated.
Roth is south of Nürnberg. From Nürnberg, take Highway no.6 from Autobahnkreuz Nürnberg-Ost to the southwest, direction Schwabach / Heilbronn. At Autobahnkreuz Roth, take road B2 to Roth. Approaching from the south on Highway no.9, take exit 55 Allerberg / Roth and follow the St2237 road westbound to Roth. You will reach the B2 road just northeast of Roth.
