General

Holzdorf is one of the former East German Air Force bases that was taken over by the German Heeresflieger. Presently, it holds part of the CH-53 fleet that now resides under the Luftwaffe. There is also a SAR detachment of the Bundesheer, with a civil-registered H145 in military livery.

Layout

The airfield has a layout of rectangular roads and taxiways, having decommisioned most of the former typical layout with shelter areas around taxiway loops. The former northern taxiway, once the main runway, has been replace by a road. North of the east-west runway, the aprons hangars can be found, many of them constructed early this century. The SAR detachment has its hangar in the southeast corner.

Getting There

Holzdorf is located some 80 km south of Berlin, along the B101 road. From the A9, take the B187 from Dessau to Luckau. From the A13, take the B87 via Luckau, and then the B101 northbound.

Around the Airport

1West side approach

From the B187 that runs through Holzdorf, take the road that goes southeast just where the main road bends north, on the east side of the village. Immediately after, go right into a track. Follow this along the perimeter and you will pass the threshold of runway 9.
This track can also be reached from the K6248 by taking the road called Premsendorf, just east of the village that bears the same name.

2East side approach

For the 27 approach, just find a spot along the B101 that runs past the eastern side of the base.
