Welcome for Top Aces two-seater A-4

As Scramble announced on 28 April, Canadian “Red Air” company Top Aces Inc. will continue to offer fast jet adversary air training services to the Luftwaffe (GAF, German Air Force).

As an expansion of their operations Top Aces has welcomed the arrival of Douglas TA-4J C-FGWT (c/n 13499) at their facility at Wittmundhafen Air Base, Germany.

The aircraft will perform double duty as an internal fighterpilot trainer and it will support the Bundeswehr on a variety of military training missions.

After crossing the pond from Iceland en-route to Wittmundhafen, the new agressor landed at Prestwick for a fuel stop on 3 May.

The two-seat Skyhawk was delivered to the US Navy as a TA-4F with BuNo 152853 in 1968. After its service in the navy, the trainer was converted into a TA-4J “Ayit” and delivered to the Heyl Ha'Avir (IAF, Israeli Air Force) as 749 in the years 1992-1994.

It was retired by the IAF by the turn of the century, and sold to Air Training Service International (ATSI) in the USA in 2001. The aircraft became N250WL and was incorporated into the Top Aces fleet when it bought ATSI in 2013. It became C-FGWT on 27 January 2021.
