Venezuela loses its 4th K-8

On Saturday 18 June 2022, the Aviación Militar Nacional Bolivariana (Venezuelan Air Force) lost its fourth Hongdu K-8VV Karakorum.

The two-seat jet trainer crashed near the Parisi racetrack in the Los Cortijos suburb of Maracaibo, Zulia state. The two crew ejected safely and suffered some injuries.

As far as we could ascertain, the machine was operated by the Grupo Aéreo de Operaciones Especiales 15 based at nearby Base Aérea Rafael Urdaneta (BARU) in Maracaibo. At the time of the accident, around noon, three aircraft were doing circuits over the city according to an eye-witness.
