US Navy Texan II crash

On 23 October 2020, a US Navy T-6B Texan II crashed in Foley (AL). The accident sadly resulted in two fatalties.

The trainer crashed near the Alabama shore about 30 miles west of Pensacola (FL) around 17:00 hrs (LT). The T-6B mishap in a residential neighborhood and severely damaged at least one house and several cars, lucklily there were no casualties on the ground.

The US Navy is using the T-6B, serving the Commander Naval Air Training at NAS Whiting Field (FL) and NAS Corpus Christi (TX). The fatal Texan II was operating out Whiting Field (which is located just north of Pensacola) and presumably belonged to Training Wing FIVE ('E-xxx'). According to the ads-b screenprint the T-6B Texan II involved is BuNo 166207/E-207.

These two fatalities are the first for the US Navy and US Marine Corps in more than a year as the force reported on 19 October 2020. They each had zero aviation-related fatalities in Fiscal Year 2020, which ended on 30 September 2020.
