Sweden acquires Global 6500 jets for VIP transport
On 23 May 2025, the Försvarets Materielverk (FMV, Swedish Defence Materiel Administration) signed an agreement with Bombardier Aerospace to purchase two pre-owned Global 6500 large-cabin, long-range business jets. These aircraft will replace the two Gulfstream jets currently used for VIP transport by the 75 Statsflygskvadronen (75th State Aviation Squadron).
The Gulfstream aircraft, one G-IVSP (Tp102C 102004) and one G550 (Tp102D 102005), were delivered to Sweden in December 2000 and June 2011, respectively.
The agreement includes initial training for crews and technicians and is valued at USD 115 million (SEK 1.1 billion).
In Swedish service, the Global 6500 will be designated Tp106. It offers operational synergy with the S106 GlobalEye, which is based on the same aircraft platform. Delivery is scheduled for November and December 2025.
