Poland intends to acquire 96 AH-64E Apaches

The Polish Minister of Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, announced that Poland intends to acquire 96 new attack helicopters and the Boeing AH-64E Apache, in the latest Guardian version, has been selected. In addition to the helicopters also technology transfer was requested.

The AH-64Es will replace the current fleet of the ageing Russian-built Mi-24 attack helicopters, used by the Lotnictwo Wojsk Ladowych (LWL, Polish Army Aviation).

At this moment around 22 Mi-24s are still in active service out of the fifty Mi-24D/Vs which have been delivered in the past.

On 7 September 2020, Scramble Magazine reported on Poland aiming for two percent defence spending with helicopter tenders. In October 2019, Poland's Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced the "Technical Modernisation Plan 2021-2035", with the main priority set for the replacement of the Mi-24 attack helicopters under the Kruk programme.
