The Peruvian government has been negotiating a government-to-government deal for twelve JAS39NG Gripens.
The request to authorise this deal was necessary from the Swedish parliament because they buy the aircraft from Saab first before the government-to-government transaction takes place.
The reason for this was an inquiry by the Peruvian government expressing serious interest in acquiring a new fighter aircraft, provided the terms and conditions are favourable and it would be a government deal instead of a commercial one.
