NL KLu F 35A F 019 Tycho del Grosso 640KLu Lightning shows markings

On 21 October 2022, the first F-35A Lightning II of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) showed full 322 Squadron tail markings at Leeuwarden air base.

F-35A, serial F-019, now sports a toned down squadron badge and a tailband of Air Combat Command (ACC). Scramble Magazine reported in March 2021 on the new commands within the KLu. Next to these unit markings, the serial of the Lightning II is also painted on the nosewheel door.

It is reported that four F-35s at Leeuwarden are now sporting the unit markings. Next to F-019, it is rumoured that also F-016 and F-022 have already been painted and 313 Squadron at Volkel air base is about to follow.

The applying of unit markings to the F-35s was already rumoured for some time. For aviation enthousiast, number crunchers and photographers, this is great news.
