"Just a nice Picture...!"

On 23 October 2020, a nice coloured stretched C-130J-30 from "Little Rock's Herk Nation" touched down at NAS JRB Fort Worth (TX).

Our 'Boneyard Safari' aviation friends saw and photographed the Super Hercules while it just touched down with its main port landing gear at NAS JRB Fort Worth.

Recently, this particular 39th Airlift Squadron Tail Blazers C-130J-30 from Dyess AFB (TX), with serial number 08-5705, flew, amongst others, over Arkansas paying an anniversary aerial review tribute.

Scramble Magazine has now learned that this Super Hercules sports a heritage livery that pays tribute to the USAF's "Four Horseman" C-130A aerial demonstration team which operated from 1956 to 1960 with the same orange high visibility markings.

Back in those days, the team, named after the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, described in the Book of Revelation, was formed by four pilots with the 774th Troop Carrier Squadron. The Four Horsemen were first based at Ardmore AFB (OK). The team later moved to Sewart AFB near Smyrna (TN).

Strikingly, the Four Horsemen flew a 25-minute long performance in their Lockheed C-130A Hercules transporters that was highlighted by the "Horsemen Burst". The latter was a bomb burst manoeuver that was similar to the sort of stunt for which the Air Force nowadays uses jet aircraft.

The legacy of the 774th Troop Carrier Squadron's legacy has been taken over by the 774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron. The squadron has been converted to provisional status in 2001 and is located at Bagram Air Base (Afghanistan).
