Iowa's Bats Stratotanker gains heritage tail flash

At the end of December 2020, a USAF Boeing KC-135R Statotanker assigned to the Iowa Air National Guard’s 174th Air Refueling Squadron/185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux Gateway/Brigade General Bud Day Field (IA) was painted with a 75th anniversary paint scheme.

The design, painted on Stratotanker 57-2606, is an exact copy of the unit’s F-16 tail flash flown by the Sioux City, Iowa based Air Guard 174th Fighter Squadron during the 1990s.

The Air Refueling Squadron, nicknamed "Bats" has a total of eight Stratotankers assigned to the unit.

57-1441, 57-2606, 58-0057, 58-0067, 58-0109, 59-1506, 59-1519, and 62-3566
