First A-29N for Portugal flies!
On 17 July 2025 Embraer the first flight of the A-29N for Portugal, PT-CXA (31400296), was conducted. During that day, the third KC-390 PT-ZDZ (39000017, to be 26903) was also handed over. To mark this occasion the duo performed a unique formation flight.
The Força Aérea Portuguesa (FAP, Portuguese Air Force) has twelve A-29N on order, with an option for four more. This is the newest version of the EMB-314 close-air support aircraft optimised for operations within NATO, having NATO-specific communication systems in its advanced avionics suite.
Delivery of the third of six KC-390, will enable FAP to reach full operational capability on the type.
