USAF F35 1 640F-35A crashes just outside of Hill AFB

On 19 October, a 388th FW (which uses the motto Libertas Vel Mors, which is Latin for Freedom or Death) F-35A crashed just outside the perimeter of Ogden-Hill AFB (UT), shortly after 18:00 hours LT.

According to 388th FW Public Affairs, the pilot ejected, was recovered and taken to a local medical centre for observation.

The Lightning II returned to Hill AFB after flying a local training session over the Utah Test and Training Range.

It crashed on approach to runway 14 just outside of the perimeter on the north side of the base.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time and will be investigated.
