Eagles over Iceland

US Air Force F-15C/D Eagles, assigned to the 493rd Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, conduct a routine aerial mission in support of NATO Air Police operations at Keflavik Air Base (Iceland) on 20 October 2020.

On 8 October 2020, the 493rd Fighter Squadron deployed from home base RAF Lakenheath (UK) with fourteen F-15C/Ds to Keflavik to fly Air Policing missions within the framework of NATO’s defensive air role in the High North.

Iceland is one example of special Air Policing arrangements, as they do not have own fighter aircraft to conduct the mission.

Via the US Air Force we received some great photo footage of the Eagles over Iceland, which we did not want to let unnoticed.
