USA USAF E 8C 640E-8C deployed to Ramstein

The US Air Force has deployed a Boeing E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) to Ramstein Air Base (Germany) to conduct training with European allies and European-based US units.

The airborne battle management, command and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform is serialled 95-0121/GA (construction number 20016/752/P-8) and is assigned to the 128th Airborne Command and Control Squadron (ACCS) of the Georgia Air National Guard.

The unit, commanded by the 116th Air Control Wing (ACW) is based at Robins AFB (GA). Its primary mission is to provide theater ground and air commanders with situational awareness to support military operations.

The modified Boeing 707-300 series is extensively remanufactured and modified with radar, communications, operations and control subsystems required to perform its operational mission and will spent several weeks in the European theater. The airmen and aircraft will participate in several training exercises.
