On 25 August 2025, the first three Força Aérea Portuguesa (FAP, Portuguese Air Force) Embraer A-29N Super Tucano light attack and counter-insurgency aircraft began their delivery flight to OGMA, Portugal.

The aircraft, registered PT-CXA, PT-CVN and PT-CYV, departed from Embraer’s facility in Gavião Peixoto, Brazil. At OGMA, they will be fitted with the necessary equipment to meet NATO operational requirements.

On 16 December 2024, Portugal signed a €200 million (USD 210 million) contract with Embraer for twelve A-29N Super Tucano aircraft (plus an option on four), along with a flight simulator and a logistic support package. The A-29N is a NATO-standard variant of the EMB314 Super Tucano, equipped with NATO-compatible datalinks, radios, secure GPS, and satcom.

Delivery of the full fleet is expected to take two to three years, concluding between 2027 and 2028. The aircraft will be operated by Esquadra 103 (Esq103) 'Caracóis', previously operating the Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet
