Delivery of first Aero L-39NG to the Hungarian Air Force
On 30 May 2025, Aero Vodochody delivered the first three L-39NG turbofan-powered military trainer and light combat aircraft, also known as the L-39 Skyfox, to the Magyar Légierő (HuAF, Hungarian Air Force).
The three aircraft, serials 141 (c/n 167019), 142 (c/n 167020), and 144 (c/n 167022), arrived at Kecskemét Air Base still bearing their Czech test registrations (0539, 0540, and 0518, respectively). They were accompanied by two HuAF Saab 39 Gripen fighters.
In April 2022, Government Commissioner for Defence Development Gáspár Maróth announced the purchase of twelve Aero L-39NG aircraft. The order includes eight training and four reconnaissance variants, as well as simulators, ground equipment, and a comprehensive pilot and maintenance training programme.
This acquisition is part of the ambitious “Zrínyi 2026” modernization programme.
