Chinook Frankenframe 2.0 ...
A great head-on picture of three Islamic Republic of Iran Army Aviation (IRIAA) CH-47C Chinooks participating in the Eqtedar-99 exercise.
What is really nice to know is the identity of the front Chinook. Serial 5-4092, just delivered in October 1977, must have been rebuilt as it was declared written off (w/o) in an accident on 31 July 1979.
We have no information if Iran rebuilt the CH-47C with use of other airframes, or if Iran reregistered this specific airframe or even the Chinook fleet.
The IRIAA operates around twenty Chinooks with the Transport Squadron at Esfahan/Badr AB and around five with the Training & Transport Squadron at Esfahan/Shahid Vatan Pour AB.
