Airbus Defence and Space (Spain) has secured an order from the Angkatan Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei (ATUDB, Royal Brunei Air Force) for an unknown number of C295MW transport aircraft. Although not officially confirmed, four aircraft are reported to have been ordered.

The contract was signed in Brunei on 2 December 2022. With this order the ATUDB capabilities for strategic airlift, search and rescue, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief will definitely expand as the current fleet consists of a single CN235-110M that has been in operation since 1997.

Delivery dates for the aircraft are unknown at this moment but are said to take place in two batches. With this order Airbus now has 35 international customers for the C295 platform and an order book of about 275 aircraft, of which more than 200 have been delivered to date.

The new transporters will join the compact fleet of Sikorsky S-70, Bell 214ST, Bell 206 and Pilatus PC-7 aircraft. All are based on the military part of Brunei International Airport.
