The Bangladesh Biman Bahini (Bangladesh Air Force) is set to receive its first dedicated attack helicopters, with six TAI T129 ATAK helicopters reportedly ordered from Türkiye.
This emerged following a courtesy visit on 13 January 2026 by the Director of Flight Test at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) to Dhaka, where he met with Principal Staff Officer (PSO) Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan of the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division (AFD).
Turkish defence media report that the six T129 ATAK helicopters are expected to be delivered by 2027. The acquisition forms part of a broader USD 600 million defence package under negotiation between the two countries, which also includes HISAR-O surface-to-air missile systems. This helicopter order appears to be the first concrete outcome of that agreement.
