According last reports there are 241 fatalities and also around 50 persons on the ground perished.
After a few hours sources reported that there is one survivor.
There are unconfirmed reports that the aircraft was unable to climb due to the ingestion of birds in both engines shortly after takeoff.

My thoughts as well. At V1 both engines were presumably [speculation mode] fulltime running and a few moments later both off AND flats up. I'm not familiare with SOP of the 787, but I observe normally first gear up and later the flaps.
Looking forward to the investigation.

A lot of messages are posted at sites like Pprune.org, airliners.net and some at avherald.com. Many are repeats of questions, some are pure disinformation. Just a few have good information.
This article has an actual overview of what happened. I believe most people commenting on mentioned websites think both engines failed at the same time. Many indications observed in both videos are clues for that conclusion.
Why both engines failed is not clear. We have to wait for the results of the investigation.

Preliminary report has been published on the AAIB website (front page - What's New).
The very simple yet chilling cause that seemed to match all known facts has been confirmed: both fuel switches were moved to the CUTOFF position shortly after becoming airborne.*
Investigators will be able to determine how that could have happened, but we will never know for sure what exactly actually happened. Some changes to design and/or procedures may be expected.
* One by one, they were also moved back into the RUN position but it was too late for the engines to spool up enough again.
