The EAA convention at Oshkosh remains the largest aviation event in the world. This year again more than 10,000 aircraft
are said to have flown to Wittman Regional Airport and other airports in eastcentral Wisconsin. Of those, 2,855 were socalled
“showplanes”, aircraft put in rows on the main flightline or on other parts of the ground and available for judging.
The other 7,000-odd aircraft are “just” visitors, but if you are so inclined, you can log or photograph each one of those as
well: every aircraft is accessible to those who are prepared to walk the grounds. Most of the 2,855 “showplanes” are homebuilts
or ultralights, but there were also 1,032 vintage aircraft and 371 warbirds, ranging from twenty-odd P-51s over two
ex Austrian AF PC-6s or an ex Yugoslav AF UTVA 66 to a T-35 Buckaroo.

The lists above mention only the current military or government aircraft present at some stage during the week, and the
airliners on show (often for one day only).
