Another mishap occured here on 28.05. when around 9.40h Tornado IDS 43+46 of TLwG 33 had to make an emergency landing. Presumably due to hydraulic problems it had to take the cable on runway 26.

The runway was closed for 90 minutes or more as some cleaning work has to be done on it. The quickly reopened runway 02/20 was then used by three arriving and departing A400M.

Departing Tornado ECR 46+54 of TLwG 51 had to postpone it’s departure and taxied back to the ramp.

At last on 28.05. A400M 54+49 was delivered as GAF214 to LTG 62. It is the third centreline HDU-equipped aircraft.

Obviously 43+46 had some engine trouble. The right reverser was closed only during landing.

For the first time three LTG 62 A400M flew in a close three-ship formation and on 04.06. 54+18, 54+31 and 54+45 made a long journey over Germany in this formation. In preparation for the "Tag der Bundeswehr" on June 28th "Lifter 1, 2 and 3" departed Wunstorf and later flew as "Lifter 1 formation" only. The flight went to the Baltic Sea to circle around the Island of Rügen, then south to Bitterfeld area and further to Lübeck, flying over Jagel air base, then pasing Hamburg and Oldenburg and back to their homebase.

On 13.06. TLwG 31 Eurofighter GS 31+52 (SABRE 41) and 31+33 (SABRE 42) did fly some a ACT maneuvres in TRA 302 against 31+34 (HAMMER). The first two guided 31+34 to Wunstorf, the two did one overshoot, HAMMER landed. After some 10-15 minutes on ground it departed again back to Nörvenich.

Obviously the testing and evaluating of the DIRCM protection system was some kind of success, as 23 A400M will now get this. This include aircrafts in the tactical configuration only which will be flown in tactical operations (also MEDEVAC), while the other aircrafts are in the logistical variant. Certification is plannned for summer 2025, all 23 should be modified until 2032.

Hi all,

Here is a quick log of Wunstorf, noted on June 27, around 17:15lt.

5402, 05, 07, 13, 14, 19, 31, 32, 36, 37,
38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 45, 49

A total of 20 A400s were noted, so we still miss to of them. Anyone for the missing serials?

Best regards Rob

Which incomplete Tornado (I think without a visible serial) was parked between those A400s? Was it 43+13?
Cheers,
