We're very excited to share with you that, subject to operational tasking, we are hopeful the UK F-35B Lightning and new RAF P-8A Poseidon will appear at this summer's Air Tattoo, representing the airshow's two themes for 2020; Fast Jet Combat Air Power and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR).

The F-35B debuted at the Air Tattoo in 2016, as examples from the Royal Air Force and United States Marine Corps flew the Atlantic to take part in the show. This was the first time that the British public had the opportunity to witness this 5th generation 'low observable' fighter up close.

The US Navy debuted the P-8 at the Air Tattoo in 2014. More recently we have seen the aircraft operated at the show with RAF personnel as part of the crew, thanks to a years-long programme to ensure retention of the skill sets that RAF crews require to remain proficient in maritime patrol duties.

Weekly update in the newsletter:
This week we are pleased to confirm the Royal Danish Air Force's attendance, who are always great supporters of the event. This will see the return of the CL-604 Challenger on static display and, returning to the flying display schedule at Fairford for the first time in many years, a Danish F-16AM Fighting Falcon! The display is flown by the Fighter Wing, based at Skrydstrup and the intention is to use their stunningly painted jet in 'Dannebrog' livery (which was on static display at RIAT 2019).

Do note that the F-35B and P-8A aren't confirmed yet.
They only said they are hopeful that they will come, no confirmation on the list at the website either. (which only stated the Danes at the moment)

Latest Update - 13 February 2020

This week we are pleased to confirm the Swiss Air Force for RIAT 2020, with flying displays from the F/A-18C Hornet and Patrouille Suisse.

German Navy Headquarters have informed us of their intent to send a number of aircraft for static display at RIAT 2020, including their P-3C Orion which will be a welcome addition to the Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance theme at the show. However, we await formal confirmation of attendance which we expect to receive in March or April.

In a letter recently received from the Royal Canadian Air Force, they recognise the importance that RIAT 2020 will play in commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and that "the participation of RCAF aircraft is currently under consideration".

We were very pleased to hear from 9 Squadron, Spanish Navy, this week. They enjoyed their experience at RIAT 2019 and hope to return with their Matador II jets to the Air Tattoo again this year. We are currently continuing communication with them and hope to bring you more good news in the coming weeks.
Swiss confirmed: F/A-18 and Patrouille Suisse

Intended:
German P-3C
Canadians
Spanish Matador

Latest Update - 20 February 2020

We have begun communicating with Austrian Joint Forces Command who plan to send an aircraft for static display at RIAT 2020. We will bring you more news once the details are formally confirmed.

The Heavy Airlift Wing, based at Pápa Air Base in Hungary, have also communicated their intent to return. We expect their participation will be confirmed in the Spring.

We have received news from the Slovenian Air Force that they plan to support RIAT 2020.

Last week we hosted staff from the RAF Aerobatic Team, to discuss aspects of their participation at RIAT 2020. We discussed the possibility of special flypasts to ensure visitors coming on all days we to see something special in the skies over Fairford. We await the formal confirmation of their attendance from the RAF Air Events Team...
Interesting developments.

We're delighted to welcome back Austria to the Air Tattoo this year with a C-130K Hercules for our static display. Operated by the 4th Air Transport Squadron as part of Flight Regiment (Fliegerwerft) 3 based at Vogler Air Base, the Austrians operate three Hercules which were acquired from the RAF in 2002.

Nice update today:
We're back with a great mix of aircraft this week! The Belgian Air Component have confirmed that they will be returning to RIAT 2020 with their popular F-16 solo demonstration, flown by 'Vador' in his final year as the display pilot, along with a static ERJ-135.
From Northern Europe, we're thrilled to welcome two rarely-seen Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft. Making it's Air Tattoo debut will be the S102B Korpen and S100D Argus, giving some enthusiasts their first up-close look at these two Swedish Air Force types in the static display.
