T-33A N132 back in the air again

Post by Pillow »

Hi,

just wanted to let all of you know that we finally finished Stage I of restoring 'famous' T-33A N132GB at Frankfurt-Hahn (EDFH/HHN). Remember about one year ago in Twenthe? :D
We removed all of the old paint and started polishing the aircraft which is not finished yet.
The cockpit has been overhauled as well as some wiring and other stuff.
We made 2 sucessfull testflights at Hahn yesterday.
We are going to be at some shows or displays in and around Germany this year such as Spangdahlem Open House 2011, Bitburg, a.s.o.
I'll keep you updated. Thanks again for all support in Twenthe last year!
Michael

Hi Michael...

The T-Bird is one of my all-time favorites, my avitaion hobby started with the Harvards, T-Birds and Thubderstreaks from our old KLu, here in the Netherlands.
The Harvard is nr. 1 and the T-33A is defenitely nr. 2 on my favorite list.
So, this beauty makes my heart jump up!!!!

Grtz.

Hi...

That's really BAD news.
I am glad that both pilots could get out unharmed and I hope that this jet can be restored to a flying condition very soon!

Hi,
I have to apologise for my post one day ago.
Jet was in flying conditions one day ago but not anymore at the moment.
It's back on it's wheels at Bitburg, still in one piece but needs a deep inspection.
Pilots got out by themselves, not even having a scratch.
I guess there will be some TV-footage around soon...

Damage does not look too unrepairable but I guess it is going to take another couple of hundreds of thousands of euro's to fix everything. :(

Good luck

That's indeed what they said on the German news: it will probably go into the ten-thousands of euros.

Question, how do plane insurances deal with that? In the same way as car insurances?
