SAR from Leeuwarden to de Kooy?

Post by Bassie76 »

Surfing on the internet I came accros this interview with commander Pijffer from the SAR done by 'Omroep Friesland' (it's in Dutch).
http://www1.omropfryslan.nl/Player.aspx ... 0cb027.wma
In the end he more or less confirms relocation of the SAR in 2011 from 'Leeuwarden' to 'de Kooy', where they will be equiped with the NH-90.
I always thought this relocation was a rumour, but it seems not.

It is supposed to depend on closure of Leeuwarden as an active fighterbase.
Which is almost certain.

Certain??? Source???? Or just wishfull thinking?
Jack de Vries told a few weeks ago this is not an issue!

On topic: I'm also not aware that the SAR would be moving in 2011, never saw this officially being anounced.

That the SAR is going to de Kooij is, at least in my thinking because they changed from the Tweety to the NH90. Its easyer to centralise a fleet of several a/c in one nothern place stead of two places. I don't know of the three AB.412's are phased out or that they replace the last remaining Al 3's.

That's what you think Robert, people on the islands have a 'slightly' different opinion about the the SAR moving to De Kooy!

Thats what the commander already says that the flying time will slightly longer. But the NH90 can fly faster than the AB.412.

Well, this will happen in the future. Up till now, they still fly the AB 412.

Somewhen last year there was a mayor dispute at the board if the Alouette should be phased out and replaced by the 412s or not. But the move to de Kooy is also to centralise as much Coastguard equipment around Den Helder as possible.

if I remember corrct: in addition:

-Alouette III will be replaced with three Sa532 MK2 which already since 1997 have got an royal/vip cabine
-AB-412SP would be sold on the second hand civil market

However....
We still need to receive some NH-90 and for now these have been delayed and delayed....
Anybody knows wether the claim of the Dutch Government with NH90 for the morecost to keep the SH-14D Lynx in the air as result of delays and priority for other buyers have been paided (off)?

Hi all,

303 Sqn. and the rescueflight of 7 Sqn. Marheli will form a combined SAR flight within 860 Sqn. They will operate from De Kooy with the NH90 from 2011 on. Already some 303 Sqn. members are sent to De Kooy in order to prepare the new construction.
In a radiointerview the 303 Sqn. boss assured that the new place of operation will not disturb the way 303 Sqn. now operates from Leeuwarden.
And no stunning that there is a very great silence hearing no politicians anymore. That's business as usual.
Enjoy the SAR MEET 2009 at Leeuwarden Airbase.

Next item will be the problems about the noisy(?) JSF.

Something I miss in the different topics over the years about this: How do the flying times compare between the Leeuwarden Tweety and the Lynx from Northolz if they have to go to the eastern dutch Waddenisles? (So wouldn't it be faster to use the german helis, like Koksijde also serves Zeeland?)

About Jack de Vries his statement I can only say:
Never thrust politicians because I sometimes get the feeling they are not always that honest about things.
Still if he holds on to this statement, in a few years we will have new politicians and his successor might think otherwise.

The closure of EHLW has been agreed in the coalition agreement of this cabinet, and even CDA party specialists have said they want to stick to this. Maybe de Vries is not totally aware of this, as he was out of politics for a while, when this was agreed.

Sorry for being slow to respond, had to use some ice
On the upper side this time......

But anyway, that's what rumours are.
A concentration on two bases for the fighterpart of the airforce. (What's left over of it ...)
Gilze and Volkel, and Eindhoven for transport.

But as politics is never for certain .............
I hope the best, but am expecting Leeuwarden to close.
Sources on the airbase itself confirm these rumours.
Sorry .....

Well,

I thought the present political coalition has still the intention not closing EHLW during the coalition period. So there must be some misunderstanding about the future of EHLW or is there a new view? Did I miss something?
For sure the members of the " Milieu Taliban " are sharpening their knifes pointing ad the noise of the JSF. Every week there is an article in the local paper about the noise item and the consequences for the villages about EHLW.
Jack "JSF' de Vries himself visits in short Leeuwarden to explain and justifying the choise of the F-35. And untill now he is quite clear: the fighter will fly at Leeuwarden.
To be continued!!

A lot of news for me here. First that it seems likely that Leeuwarden will close, but I did hear the rumour. Second, that fighters will return to Gilze? :S AK1 can you confirm this is what you're saying and that this is the plan for the future? If it is Gilze will be one hell of a superbase in NL, with not only the majority of the helo's but also half of the fighter force! :O
