Questions on Fr 11.07, who was there ?

1) Serials of the Typhoon and Spitfire around 19:00 that went into holding and flew their demo.
2) We saw a F/A-18 inbound Fairford at around 18:30 LT at Brize.
Did the Canadians fly a demo ? The USN a/c landed around 19:00 at Fairford. Anyone can confirm 100% ?

On Sunday the 13th the German Airbus 10+27 departed early morning, even before the ERJ from Belgium. Did not note the exact time.
The Dhruv helicopter team was fueled during the morning, looked like they made them ready for departure.
The (B-2 size) hangar, behind the B-1, went open during the end of the morning. All 3 Raptors where seen, and at least at one (right) they where working. Perhaps to make it ready for departure?

Just returned from my anual pilgrimage to RIAT :@(: . Failed as I didn't get further than Swindon this year :( . Just hope there will be a RIAT next year, as the parent charity told the show a few years ago (2002 if I am not mistaken), they would not allow another loss-making year in the future. I can't imagine this year won't be a loss-making year, all refunds they have to make, sponsors that don't get what they have paid for, etc. etc.... Let's pray RIAT survives anyway.

surviving

Wouldn't they be insured for something like this?

Above... formaly RIAT did not cancel but they shot down after a to great risk for the insurance companies and on advise or orders from the police?

So problem a little bit solved?

Hoping and praying for Riat 2009

Greetings,

Stafsels
RIAT multiple times stated in the past, they were not insured for these kind of things. Premiums should have been even more higher. If you want it formal, after discussions with the police and emergency services, the final word to cancel was a RIAT statement. In the talks to go ahead or not, no insurance company was involved. RIAT, police and emergency services were.

REQ: 2nd SAR Griffin (RIAT 2008)

Post by Wijgert IJlst »

Hello All,

Trying to tigh-up the loose ends of walking around the fence on Sunday
morning. While SAR Griffin HAR.2 (AB.412) ZJ703/♠ is believed the one
present in the static area, a second SAR Griffin HAR.2 was noted on the
oppostie side of the runway, just sitting infront of the hangar with
the red "BAE SYSTEMS" banner. Suspect this beeing on "SAR" alert for
the planned airshow.
Any one down here who might be able to supply me its serial please?
Thank you very much!

Kind Regards,
Wijgert IJlst

I am at work, but I think you mean the one with spade as well and coded '3' on the nose.

Hi,

For those not receiving MSF or Touchdown news messages; Graham Wickens has put up at list of all participants:

http://www.westrowops.co.uk/RIAT2008CHECKLIST.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

(those listed in red are amendments to an earlier list)

Greetings,
Stefan

No, that one was in the static area near the A.109... I mean the grey AB.412 on the otherside of the runway, next to the big hangar with the big red "BAE SYSTEMS" banner on the side.
It can't be the same, as both choppers where seen on the same time from the end of the runway.
We failed to pull an ID of due to distance and heathwaves... :?

It's also not on Graham's checklist...

Hope some one can help here!

Thanks for your reaction. But I'm able to distinguish a AB.412 model from a EH.101... :? besides this... it was wearing the same SAR c/s as ZJ703 (at the static) did.
