Wittmund 05-08-2021

Another lovely day at Wittmund. The Top Aces refused to send out their TA-4, so we had to make due with 'just' one Alpha Jet and an A-4.
TaktLwG 71 used 9 different Eurofighters throughout the day, and a visiting A-400 from Wunstorf in the morning was a welcome addition.

Let's go:

Hope you like them!

Nice set of pictures. I take all of them were taken at the western end(threshold rwy08). Do the double fences bother a lot for taking pictures since you manage to shoot the A4 on the ground there?

Cheers,

Thx Ranger,

You are correct, it's all the rwy 08 threshold. The double fence is a pain in the butt on everything. The A-4 shot is taken by putting a small (3 step) ladder on top of the mount around the farmers field. There is only room for about 3 to 4 people on the mount. If you use a bigger ladder you can pull it off from groundlevel, but you are looking at being at least 2,5 to 3 meters off the ground with your camera. You also need cooler temps, because as soon as the heat comes off the runway nothing can be done. The threshold itself is impossible.

The other shots are taken from the mount, over the fence. Sideshots are usually not possible, because the planes are too low.

Do you have a picture of the situation, to have the so-called situational awareness?
Tempting to go there, but don't want to go without positive results......

Nice pictures by the way!

Go there with westerly winds and you have a long fence to stand where ever you want at the other end of the runway.
Ef2000's with about 300mm and A4's/AJets 400mm full frame
