At CPH the de-icers are quite good and very service minded :P :wink: Good to see! :thumb: Hopefully they will clean the nose as well as you can get some residual fluid on the windscreen during the take off roll and rotation. But that's not too bad compared to having the whole windscreen blurred wit...

Ah, but it does (even though it may not be used as often)! It's primarely used for turboprop aircraft because the fluid is formulated to be blown off during a short, low speed, take-off (low "shear speed" for turboprops).

If you are talking purely about de-icing (ie. getting rid of the ice) then it's just hot water. But most aircraft when being 'de-iced' get de- and anti-icing fluids applied in one spray and in that case the fluid contains water, glycol and (depending on which type of fluid is being used: I, II, III ...

Het lijkt me dan vrij logisch dat die grote kisten niet kunnen doorstarten of een t/g maken.. Een beetje piloot heeft echt geen PAPI nodig om een T/G of G/A te maken. Denk je dat ze bij de afgelegen veldjes in Afghanistan e.d. ook PAPI's hebben? ;-) Zolang er nog een werkende ILS of ander beacon is...

So, he was a captain but had to sit in the right seat? That's not the way I would choose to retire! :wink:
