Re: 1970s Mil Collection

thermal-The 104 TFG at Barnes didn't get their first F-100 Super Sabre until May, 1971. I think the last F-84 left ANG service around 1972. Here's a General Motors-built Thunderstreak at Barnes in early 1970. Without external tanks they looked very sleek, and I suppose, were supersonic in a shallow ...

Re: 1970s Mil Collection

wvanbel-very colorful photos from Goetsenhoven, nice to see them. And what can I say about a couple of fast-moving F-104s other than BRAVO! Polecat-you bring up an interesting point on the lack of a flyable F-84. I agree it would have been easy to put one in the air, or at least that was true about ...

Re: 1970s Mil Collection

Speaking for myself, Mart, I wish we had more flyable jet warbirds here in the States. But reality sets in, and I surely would not sign my name to a document allowing any group or persons to keep an F-111 in flyable condition.

Re: 1970s Mil Collection

Very nice indeed, Rob. It's true that not every event will provide Kodachrome skies, and for me that's where I would switch to B&W. Or, to look at it another way, not every picture needs to be perfect to provide viewing enjoyment.

Is that a Nike missile on the right hand margin of the Mirage image?

My aplogies for the broken links to my photos. I think I have them all fixed now. Re: 1970s Mil Collection

First, Happy New Year to all and may your cameras be busy in 2012! Second, my apologies for all the broken photo links to my pictures. That problem has been corrected. And third, may I say I'm delighted to see that this thread has continued, and in fact is now a great selection of Military aircraft ...

Re: 1970s Mil Collection

Nice T-Bird, Hans. I would have called that a "Plain Jane" aircraft due to the lack of markings and colors, but nice to see anyway. There were so many T-33s that I could see them at any hour on every day of the year, at almost any altitude. Sadly, they are gone from the skies, so now I check out the...
