Aircraft Spotting at Eindhoven Air Base; Some Heavy Airlifters

Post by Redskin301 »

This video contains some heavy aircraft spotting at Eindhoven Airport/Air Base. During the week a good mix of military and civilian planes can be seen at this airfield. On some moments Eindhoven is a very busy airfield and some rare cargo planes can be seen here.

This first part of the video contains a sample of the new Nikon Z7 II mirrorless camera. I used this camera for the first time at Eindhoven Air Base. During the tests, two Ryan Air airliners and the KDC-10 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force passed by. I initially filmed the Ryan Air planes from the tripod with the Nikon Z7 II and the Nikon 200-400 f4.0 lens.

Throughout the year, there are always a few special aircraft passing by at Eindhoven Air Base that are not commonplace at the base. This time it was an Ilyushin Il-76 from Silk Way Airlines. Silk Way Airlines is an Azerbaijani private cargo airline with its headquarters and flight operations at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku. The company operates freight services connecting Europe and Asia, the United States and Africa. Services are also offered for governmental and non-governmental organizations. The company was founded in 2001 and began commercial operations on October 6, 2001. The company currently operates a single An-124 and five Il-76 heavy transport aircraft. It is therefore a small company whose aircraft are therefore not seen very often in the Netherlands. The arrival of this Il-76 to Eindhoven therefore attracted the attention of the necessary fans who were gathered around the airport. The aircraft arrived from Leipzig in Germany on the morning of January 15, 2021. It was only just light when the Ilyushin touched down its wheels in Eindhoven. The visit would not last long, the aircraft would immediately be loaded with equipment on the Mil West platform. The Ilyushin Il-76 was due to depart from Eindhoven around 11.30 am, this time with destination Baghdad in Iraq.

During the last part of the video at a cold day it was quite busy at Eindhoven Air Base. In the early morning some Ryan Air 737s came in and the Silk Way Il-76 landed. Also the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) was quite busy this day. In a window of one hour, the Gulfstream, the KDC-10 and a A330 MRTT were launched. The focus in this video is on the preparations of the A330 MRTT during de-icing and the launch of the aircraft. For the taxiing of the aircraft I moved to the head of the Runway 03 to catch the aircraft on the taxi track. Also The J-616 came by for a Touch and Go. It was for this F-16 its last operational flight before the aircraft would be withdrawn from use (wfu). All in all a pleasant and cold morning at Super Base Eindhoven.
