Hi there,

During a very nice holiday in Canada, doing the Rockies from Vancouver to Calgary, some time was spent on spotting.

11-9-2008:

On Arrival at Vancouver and during our stay at the Express Inn (only 5 minutes away from the airport and in betweeb the approach of both main runways, the following was logged. There are some Floatplanes as well as they passed the hotel heading for downtown Vancouver Harbour Airport.

12-9-2008:
On 12-9-2008 some time was spent downtown after picking up our motorhome and moving it to an RV Campsite. The Harbour Heliport and Harbour Airport where passed by during the visit. Before we where picked up by the taxi to bring us to the motorhome rental, some landing planes where logged.

14-9-2008:
Today we moved to Vancouver Island. During the transit with the ferry, some Orca's where spotted. No stop was made at the Victoria Airport, but in the afternoon a first visit was made to downtown Victoria. There's a harbour airport as well.

15-9-2008:
After being warmed up by the Orca's yesterday, this was the day to pay them a visit in a somewhat smaller boat. This meant going to Vicotria Harbour again. During breakfast some landing floatplanes where logged from the campsite.

As we returned from our Orca trip (getting close within 1m with those Orca's), a CAF Sea King was noted doing some execises and when approaching the harbour the Sea King came in to some kind of heliport. In one of the hangars (which looked military) a tailboom was noted as well of a glossy black (Bell212/412???) helicopter.

16-9-2008:
Back to the mainland. However not the same ferry as on the way to Vancouver Island. Via Nanaimo to Horseshoe bay and than on to Whistler. Unfortunately no time was available to dirve into he direction of Tofino to see the Mars flying boats on the way there (and I was not the only one in the Motorhome having holiday).

19-9-2008:
After a day without logging any planes, A helicopter was logged overhead the town of Jasper, comming in for a landing on a parking somewhere in Jasper.

23-9-2008:
Unforunately the weather changed from clear skies and 25 degrees Celsius to rain and 12 degrees Celsius. The journey continued and while approaching Calgary a "small" airfield was noted next to the road. As we where a little early some time could be spent at what turned out to be Springbank. After asking with some firms overther it was possible to visit some platforms as well as some hangars. Thanks guys. Pitty I couldn't stay any longer for a chat.
Also nice to see all 4 Twin Otters of the British Artic Survey having n overhaul here.

The last day in Canada. After visiting some family in High River, some time was spent on Calgary airport before boarding the aircraft that brought us to Vancouver on the way to Canada for the flight home (TS950). On the way to High River the Military Museum was passed by.

Indeed, the trainer is a former Westjet aircraft. I haven't been able to find info on it since I pictured it in 2005, so I'm curious if someone knows...

As far as I know this is c/n 20196 (C-FGWJ) that is used for groudtraining since sep02.

Dear Bas and Ab(T7),

Thanks for the updates.

Bas, due to the link you passed, more pics of Springbank have been found on that site and after investigating those and mine again, I now have some very nice additions for Springbank, although not complete aircraft and not likely to fly again.
N827BA should indeed read N927BA. Made the mistake to fully focus on 827 where 927 was very suitable as well.
RP-C1152, RP-C1153 and RP-C1155 those are the ones with the yellow and red. After checking my unsorted logs and the pics again, I found out there where three of those. These 3 Twotters did belong to Pacific Air.
Next to those Parts of the fuselage of C-FMOL (just behind the VP-FBC) a former Mobil Canada DHC6 and parts of the fuselage of PK-NUL a former Merpati DHC6 have been identified.

Once again thanks. Any one there who can help on the Unidentified Bell or Cessna from Kamloops or anyone who has info on civil movements for Calgary?

Hi Arjen,

glad to have been of help. And those Philipine DHC-6's are quite tasty, even if they're not going to fly again! I'd seen that there were some other pics of Springbank on that site but as duty called I figured that you would find them anyway, otherwise I would have gotten back to it tonight.
