Point Mugu 30-Apr-2019 + A-3 Skywarrior request

Post by mwpeters »

Hi,

spend two hours at the fence of Point Mugu, the following was noted flying:
P-3C AIP 162778/304 VX-30
E-2C 165811/601 VAW-115 marking

Furthermore the NP-3D 150521 (Billboard) was seen.

Also seen on the VX-30 platform was a A-3 Skywarrior in the white colorscheme with orange dayglow tail and nose, just as attached picture:

Anyone an idea of the identity?

Hiya!

No disrespect ment, but are you sure it was a Skywarrior?

If so, it's an unknown and as of yet to me unidentified airframe.

Checking:
https://www.a3skywarrior.com/ready-room ... plays.html
found no obvious suspects, the only a/c in those colours would be:
http://www.neam.org/ac-douglas-a3b.php

But apart from it being still reported on its original location, it's literally on the other end of the country, which seems highly unlikely.

Of course a paint job isn't that hard, but all the known survivors seem to be accounted for...

So either they've been hiding a Whale in a hangar for a couple of decades (not likely, but also not unheard of) or one of the survivors has been relocated to Point Mugu and the news just hasn't broken yet (somewhat more likely).

By the way, 130363 (the second Whale on the pic) was presumed scrapped back in 1970... at Point Mugu.

You might wanna try just contacting the base:

Unless of course it's actually a B-66... :)
