Tucson Int'l (KTUS/TUS) 2016 MIL

Post by Borispole »

Seen 18 Feb were the following Iraqi F16C/Ds:

1602
1603
1605
1611
1615
1616

It would appear the stored US Army DHC8s are being re-activated, 2 were parked by the old Go hangar and are now wearing military serials

50338 c/n 338 still shows the previous civil reg N8300F very faintly visible beneath it

50348 (c/n 348?), I did not notice the previous civil reg but that was due to a short stop and a bad angle

A 3rd one was flying and I only caught the last 2 digits 77 as it flew past me as I was driving, I would expect that it would be 50377 ex N984HA but that is not yet confirmed

Visitors included US Army KA200 N43U plus two Corpus Texan IIs which are not part of the current Bullhead detachment 166121/G-121 and 166195/G-195

It was planned for end 2015/ start 2016 to have the 4 Saturn Arch DHC8-315(N8300Y, 8300F, 8300L and 8300T) and the 2 Desert Owl DHC8-315 (N8300S and N8300G) converted into the RO-6A ARL version.
I read somewhere that they would be transferred from Dynamic Aviation Lease contract to US Army ownership, but i can't find back this right now.

Tucson Intl / KTUS "Viper's Nest" 20Jul16

Post by Starman »

Noted here before/after the early morning Boneyard flyover were the following:
IqAF F-16D/C 1603, 1605, 1611, 1615, 1617, 1618 & 1620

RNlAF F-16AM/BM J-004, 019*, 064, 067, 209, 210 & 366 (*this was the "other" KNL a/c I potted last week  )

USAF F-16C/D 162Wg AZ, unless AATC (AT)
83-1174, 1177, 1180, 84-1322, 1326, 1397
86-0210, 0212AT, 0214, 0215, 0218, 0239, 0240AT, 0252, 0285, 0292
87-0299, 0311, 0317, 0333, 0361, 0381AT
88-0156, 0173, 0417 (sp cols), 0469, 0502AT, 0521(still marked HL), 0530AT
89-2002, 2012, 2091, 2100, 2117, 2119, 2123, 2135, 2155, 2156, 2163,
90-0715, 0720, 0741, 0785, 0790
91-0401AT
Plus last threes 124 (definite –should be 89-2124?)
So a few ex-HLs here as well.
Two USArmy DHC-8s are still here, 80338 & 80348, one was ground running, and the unidentified F-5A still sits on it's trailer by the fence.

In addition, a small area to the eastern end of the active ramp (ie the opposite end to the Snowbird area) at a nearly Air Base has a detachment of maybe 8 more F-16s any connection?

´Fraid not, lousy pix, one looks to have a yellow TAC band on the fin tip. There were 3 in their sunshelters to the N side, three on the "ramp" and two in the barns on the eastern side.

The Vipers at DM are Iraqi. I'm told they operate from there when they are using live ordnance.

Iraqi on DM in the Beginning of June was the 1603. It made an emergency landing the week before. Near the Dm EC-130S were at least six Hill F-16s, mixed group of 4th FS and 421st FS. They wear readable from both the Cessna during AMARG overflight and also from outside, near the Coast Guard HH-52s
