REQ: Which runway at Hyakuri now?

G'day All,

Just wondering if anyone could tell me which runway the JASSDF is using at Hyakuri now? (Or, specifically, might be using during February).

Many thanks for any help.

Cheers,
Motty.

Don't think it will cause much problems to shoot on both runways during February as heatwaves probably won't show up. Things may change during Summer though.
Landing shots at both runways are still possible and i think a 300-400mm lens will do fine to shoot on the 'old' runway from the new fence line during the afternoon. Its adviced to use a pair of steps though as this new fence is higher than what there in the past.

The new R/W(03L/21R) colse until Mar.10, 2010, because of the re-construction.
A lot of metalic materials(bolts, nuts, wires) were found at the surface of the R/W,
so the goverment ordered to the constructor to remove them.

According to reports in Scramble magazine, some were seen stored in a compound behind behind the JASDF hangars,I've no idea if these are/were visable from the outside.

As recently as two weeks ago eight airframes were noted stored outside behind the hangars. Clearly visible when you walk or drive on the road along the fence near the side entrance.

Hi,

The following were positively identified on a very rainy 28 October 2010:

57-6371
57-6372
57-6373
57-6374
57-6376
47-8342
67-8381

Some discussion whether an eight, grey F-4E tail with no markings, visible in the middle, was in fact an upturned outer wing of one of the other two grey F-4E's...

Marco,
Please could you tell us where you mean by the side entrance,is this the one by the preserved aircraft or another one? We spent one hour looking for them yesterday and could not find them but would like to see them before we come home
Many Thanks

I think they are located at this spot on the field:
36.17738,140.421495 (copy/paste in Google Maps)
From the preserved aircraft, keep the fence at your right and drive south, keeping as close as possible to the fence.
Good luck!

Hi,

Hans is correct, they can't be missed. Whilst there don't forget to have a look at the nearby engine run-up: we had an extra F-4 there as a bonus
