Which airport is this?

Post by JS50557 »

Hello all,

October 20th I was flying to LHR.
Shortly before arrival we passed this airfield.
Does anyone know which airfield this is?
We arrived in southerly direction.

Thanks in advance for your help.

That is on of more than 700 Wartime Airfields during WW2.

In this case this is White Waltham which is still in use

We arrived in southerly direction.
You were probably flying east heading for rnwy 09L or 09R since White Waltham is situated West from LHR.
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.

Hi,

For sure this is "Frankfurt".
You can see the ( former ) militairy area at the left side and the 2 parallel runways( forget the numbers) also seen the motorway in the front.

By the way 2 nice photo's from i think FL320 or higher???........

This is an interesting topic...
It is indeed a very comforting thought that I'm not the only lunatic spending hours with my nose against the window looking for airfields....

Here's one from Canada, about an hour east I reckon from Vancouver.

and this one is somewhere in between Athens and Duseldorf, maybe North Italy or Austria/Switzerland?
