Cozumel, Mexico 2013

Post by dick loh vervallen »

In December 2013 me and my wife drove around Mexico for five weeks in a rental. Last couple days we spend at a beach on the island of Cozumel in Quintana Roo state. Laying on the beach in the morning of 30 December a PC-7 was passing by. As this was a non-spotting holiday I could not resist this moment and took a taxi to the gate of BAM #4 General Eduardo Aldasoro Suarez home of the Escuadrón Aéreo 201 of the 2/o.Grupo Aereo. Within no time I as was escorted in and granted permission to photograph. Although there were only four PC-7’s on base as others were dispatched to various airfields. The one that flew earlier in the morning had performed a check-flight and there was no further flying planned. But the friendly colleague technicians of the Mexican Air Force pushed one out for a nice shot. Of course the three gate-guards were photographed as well.

1. Front view of T-28A 973 with memorial plaque of Cozumel’s Community Recognition plus for the ones that lost their life in combat (left) and the one after the base was named (right).
2. T-28A 973 is marked as 181145 on the tail.
3. badge on the nose of 973.
4. Rear view of T-28A 973 facing the sea (visible through the trees).
5. T-33A 4019.
6. Second T-28A is the 972.
