[D-HCBX] EC.135.3H SMURD (inside hangar)
Another one? They keep ordering new ones, or so it seems.

LOG Donauwoerth 03/12/2020
74+43 Tiger UHT Heer, parked outside in front of F8
79+11 NH.90TTH Heer, towed outside of F8 for short engine test
79+60 NH.90NFH Marine (engine test, later back into F8)
84+52 CH-53GS Lw/HSG64. Testflight as "Redfox 11"
89+63 Sea King Mk.41 Marine/MFG5, Testflight as "Redfox 29"
[D-HAD.] BK.117D2m FA Ecuatoriana. Number 6 for FAE is also ready, unfortunetaly it was parked head on in hangar D10/1, so that the last digit could not be read. One for the next time!
[D-HADD] BK.117D2 Ramco Systems Ltd (VT-ARI readable under sticker). c/n 20332. Towed from western area into delivery hangar C9
[D-HADE] BK.117D2m FA Ecuatoriana. Parked outside, then back into hangar.
[D-HADO] BK.117D2m Hungarian AF (primer(c/n 20284). Flown over from Ingolstadt
[D-HADP] BK.117D2m FA Ecuatoriana, towed back into D10/4. Now I got a c/n for this one (taken from boxes near the helicopter: 20356)
D-HADS BK.117D2 Airbus. Towed from one hangar to another
[D-HADU] BK.117D2m Hungarian AF (c/n 20345). Now had serial "19" plus badge and roundel applied, so ready for delivery. Was used as the crew taxi for the hungarian crew of D-HADO for the flight back to Ingolstadt.
[D-HBTA] BK.117D2m Heer (camo c/s). One of the new Heer aircraft joined the other two (D-HADF/L) presently based at Augsburg for crewtraining. Was doing a low approach as "Redfox 9" at Donauwörth only on a flight to & from Augsburg. If you need to see them you have to go to either Augsburg or Lechfeld AB, where they are spending most of the day for training.
[D-HCBP] BK.117D3 DRF f/c. Production flight as "Redfox 12". This time the engine cowling was not removed so the future reg was easily readable under the sticker: D-HXFA. c/n 21009
[D-HCBX] EC.135.3H SMURD f/c. parked outside
[D-HECH] EC.135.3H SMURD f/c. towed outside
[D-HECK] EC.135T3H DRF f/c. Production flight as "Redfox 15". Future reg. "D-HRTH" clearly visible under sticker. c/n 2138
D-HTMR BK.117D2 Helicopter Travel Munich (HTM). This one has been delivered to HTM but again returned to Donauwörth for whatever reason. Local flight as "Redfox 24"
D-HTSC EC.135T2+ Airbus, outside for engine test, later back into C10

thanks for your log Rene!
As promised via whatsapp, I will add some comments for your sightings:
Concerning D-HCBK: It could well be that this is in fact a civil aircraft. I saw this particular helicopter in November coming out of the paintshop without registration though. See the picture of it plus the comments in my google photo account:

Sometime ago (about 6 months I think) it was indicated the Armed forces would buy as much as up to 64 H145s.
48 for the Heeresflieger 24 for the 3 operational regiments (8 each) and 24 for the HFWS.
Another 16 would be split between Luftwaffe and Marineflieger.
So these could be part of this indicated order but strange to start building them without a (confirmed) order.

The new H145M, also known as the Light Utility Helicopter Streitkrafte (H145M LUH SK), can be equipped with the Airbus Helicopters’ HForce modular weapons system, to support the Tiger UHT in the light attack role. Because this bay is modular, the new H145M can also be used in a variety of roles, like liaison, transport and medevac. But it will also fill the gap in training hours for NH90 and Tiger UHT helicopter crews as these helicopters have a low availability rate and are more costly to operate for training hours only.
The unofficial requirement for the HEER is 24 for training and a further 24 as battlefield utility helicopters to equip its three aviation regiments.

Hans van Herk

That was my last visit here for 2020. Time to wish everybody some peaceful christmas days and a good start for 2021. Let´s hope that the new year will be a better one - from my aviation point of view I never had a year where I collected fewer new frames than in 2020 since I started spotting back in 1981...

I guess that goes for most of us unfortunately :-(
I am very, very happy I visited the airshows in Kuwait and Tunesia in the beginning of this year, that makes it a little bit better. But still....

Either way, thanks very much for your much appreciated updates from Donauworth. All the best and keep up the good work next year!
Cheers,
