Hi all,

Yesterday I heard rumors that the Austrians have already finished their live firing exercises.

In addition:
7L-WB, WD and WO were also seen yesterday. All three not flying.

Greetz,

Heard there is a spottersday on the 18th of May. With google I found this: http://www.panoravia.nl/spottersdag-wit ... /#more-767

This message does not mention anything about Austrians. So maybe the Austrians leave earlier? The date 19th of May as date the Austrians will leave was mentioned in a german newspaper article. But now-a-days this was maybe fake news

Does anyone know if there are still "only" 7 Austrian Eufi's at Wittmund? Are the 2nd batch (of the reported 8 additional airframes) still coming now that the exercise seems to come to an earlier-as-planned ending?

Volgens dit bericht zouden er na ander halve week oefening nog eens 8 Oostenrijkse EF2000s moeten arriveren.

Obviously that´s not correct. They completed their shooting missions and so there only should be some Austrian flying next week.

This could not happen! 7 Eufis at Wittmund, 2 plus 2 spare for the Austrian QRA at any one time plus 4-5 in maintenance. How many Austrian Eufis should still be available???

I agree that it seems unlikely that they will be replaced by 8 other aircraft due to maintenance etc. However, I was told that they alternate QRA duties with Linz so Linz is probably on QRA during the deployment of the Typhoons.

I think they only have a limited number of pilots for the Typhoons (10-18?) and, considering the number of sorties flown, I think the majority is currently at Wittmund amassing a fair amount of flying hours over the past two weeks!

Regards, Paul
