This Sunday (28 August) an Il-76 will arrive at Volkel to support the delivery of the final batch of F-16s to Chile.

NOTAM for Sunday:
M1438/11 - ADDN OPR HRS 0915-1100. 28 AUG 09:15 2011 UNTIL 28 AUG 11:00 2011. CREATED: 23 AUG 08:19 2011

I would like to go on sunday to capture the IL-76 but I try to figure out the times... if I read it correctly it means

STA: 0915
STD: 1100

Sorry for this question But I have never yet been to a Military airport but for a nice IL-76 it will do :)
and maybe capture some nice F-16's as well...

The base is open between 11.15 and 13.00 local time for traffic (the arrival of the Il-76). Do not expect F-16s on a Sunday. The Il-76 will be the only movement, apart from the gliders taking over again as soon as the base is closed again.

Thanks stefan :) I will surely take a look could you maybe also give me some info about the Runways wich is most likely be used by the IL-76? I have seen the pictures from last time I thought it landed on 06R/24L...

sorry Cause I normally don't go to MIL airports :oops:

The only operational runway at Volkel at this moment is 06L/24R.

Spacedust is correct
A while ago the same kind of NOTAM was published but they actually did use the parallel occasionally.
Of course most of the traffic used the main runway.

:? That is a very strange remark... That would be the first time they switch between parallel runways because of changing wind directions... :D

Aviacon Zitotrans IL-76 on its way as 'AZS 7001': ETA1015LT according to its crew. They were asking Volkel tower for the weather. Expect rwy24R!

128.350 just cleared for ILS Approach 24R, expect him to switch soon to 136.075
