Thanks for the input. I a bit dissapointed to say the least. I was looking forward to flying over and getting some good shots. I hope TLP is a bit better then.

Hi Trevor,

just got back myself from the TLP and it was as good as always as far as variability is concerned.
Be aware however that this TLP edition is the second to last one at Florennes, Belgium. From September, it will play at Albacete, Spain. What goes on there wrt us photographers is anyone's guess, I think.....
To Polleke, I think you have a point here. If the KLu doesn't show their face at Tiger Meets and the like, than the favour will be returned sooner or later, no doubt....
Besides, it seems the KLu is on a track towards isolating from allies this way. Not showing at various international exercises, not getting participation from other air forces with their own exercises will lead to a certain degree of isolation. We may be becoming the champion of bombing turbands in desert hide-outs in Afghanistan, but what is the point if this isolation continues?

Just a late night thought...

Hans.

Well at least the mission/training day ratio will be better due to the weather there. ;-) Too bad for us photographers, but training wise an improvement I reckon..

Maybe the fact that resources within the Klu are hard pressed due to budget cuts and personell shortage that sometimes choices have to be made. This doesn't account for the fact foreign participation with this years FF is very low, but sometimes it isn't a matter of "we party /train at your exercise so you can party/train at ours.." ;-) I wish it were that simple..

And as someone else mentioned, exercises are not there to please us spotters. We should be lucky to attend it from upclose sometimes and other than that it's all just plain luck..

Hello Nilsko,

I agree.
However it does seem that the Klu gets less participation from foreign nations.
Budget and personnel problems are faced by foreign air forces too.
And Belgium still seems to be able to get some nice participants for exercises etc...

But we ( spotters) can't do anything about it, just hope for better times...

I don't know the why and how of the lack of participation. Any reason I can come up with like personell shortage or other reasons so also apply to other nations indeed.

Well, maybe we have to brew more types of beer like the Belgians to get more airforces to come here.. Might it be that simple? ;-)

I know it's an obvious question but as I need to plan for a day off, if I want to come to EHLW for the FF2009 arrivals: has anyone triple checked their sources for an update on the Polish vipers?

Not really, but they called it DWIC because only Dutch pilots would participate in this years edition.

so as I said, DWIC is for KLu-jocks only and every other year an (international or rather EPAF) FWIT is organised...
I wonder what they will organise next years as International participation seems ever harder to get unfortunately.....
