Morning all,
I'm based in South Africa and travel throughout Africa for work and a few months back I picked up this piece on my travels, an original Royal Dutch Airlines bronze plaque sculpted for the airline by Dutch sculptor Joop C. Hekman (1921-2013), signed by him and marked by the foundry it was cast at in Holland, 'Royal Begeer'. The plaque, depicting Royal Dutch Airlines founder, Dr. Albert Plesman, measures 67cm in height and 44cm in width and weighs in at just on 23kg.
Despite exhaustive research I haven't been able to find another such example, although I have heard of a similar example albeit in Dutch and not English, at the University house named after Dr. Plesman at the university he attended.
