RIP Andy Thomson

I am sad to share the following news I received yesterday evening by Martin Kaye:

It is with great regret that I have to inform you that Andy Thomson passed away at 09:30 this morning. He finally succumbed to the dreaded C. It had spread to his kidneys and liver and so it was only dialysis that has kept him going for the last week or so. I last spoke to him a week ago and he said that he was on the way out; but hoped to make it home for a few days to sort a few things, sadly that was not to be.

I will remember him from some memorable trips such as:
- camping round Germany for Fritzlar show and F-104 bases in May 1992
- out venture into E Germany in June 1992 to photograph the Russians
- the Japan trip in October 1997.

When I hear about funeral arrangements I will pass on the details. Sadly, like many others who are just about to go on holiday, I fear that I am quite likely to miss it.
