T-45C crash in Fort Worth, TX, Sep 19, 2021.

Post by tally »

This morning around 11:15am a USN T-45C Military training jet crashed shy of the runway at NAS Fort Worth. The aircraft crashed north of the NAS Forth Worth JRB base in a residential area onto two houses. And the T-45 was confirmed as the aircraft involved by one of the pilots.

Reports so far, although not confirmed by any means, is that the pilots used their bang seats. The instructor pilot is in stable condition but the state of the student aviator is unknown at the moment. Several victims in the two houses have been reported as severely injured. One person was taken by helicopter to Parkland Medical Center in Dallas which specialized in burn victims and one to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.

Hope all will be OK and recover fully.

I will try to update this as news becomes available.

Tally.

Hawk is a very dangerous aircraft with over 200 lost aircraft and over 50 pilots fatalies.

sterile and foolish consideration

Flight safety is not based on the number of aircraft/pilots lost compared to those produced, but is a detailed study that takes into consideration flight hours, number of aircraft, type of accident (human, environmental, technical, etc.)

A simple list of flight accidents is totally misleading and clarifies how much of the matter there is no knowledge whatsoever

The first 3 years or so of RAF Hawk operations resulted on zero crashes, a feat unrivalled by most-if not all single-engine fast jets for that period, from 1976 onwards. Compare that with Gnat, Hunter and other types of the same timeframe. A far safer airframe.
