NATO satellite pictures of air base. Nearby a Russian airlanding regiment on Yeysk peninsula.

Yeysk are base is south of Rostov-on-Don. It is a Russian naval air training unit newly transferred from Ostrov.

On Picture is four Su-33 and a pair of Su-25UTG. They are replacement aircraft of Kuznetsov aircraft carrier in the Med.

On picture is also a Tu-134UBL. Some are used on base in training purpose.

On base are also 2-3 Il-38 May.

L-39 are also used in training purpose.

A few helicopters , Ka-27, are visible also used for training.

Other satellite pitures shows Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Buturlinovka full of tactical aircraft. Earlier has Borisoglebsk been described, nearby a underground tactical nuclear storage.

hammarö: interesting information. Eysk (it ain't Yeysk) used to be housing Su-24's unfortunately this old version Fencer-B's (as far as I know) have been phased out. They still operate the L-39's, and various Ka-versions like the Ka-27 and 29. Eysk always have housed Tu-134UBL's, Il-38's, often you can find visiting Tu-154's, An-26's, A-50's and Il-20, don't forget it is near Rostov!

Already months there is stationed a Su-25UTG and often MiG-29's for testings the new NITKA training fascility. Since the Kuznetsov is in or near the Mediterranean the Su-33's and Su-25UTG's have been seen at Eysk.

Btw these movements have nothing to do with Russia building up military power to attack Ukraine. I also read this article, http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB1 ... 0345582502 , which is full with incorrect conclusions drawn from satellite images.

Eysk air base (belings to naval forces) is also near a base of spetsnaz brigade or airborne brigade/regiment for Ukraine/Crimea operations. This ase is built around an air landing strip, thus they have smaller aircraft or helicopters.

They are also a part of the NATO release of satlitte pictures, showing a complex and large base.

Correct, Eysk is a Naval Air Station and the Su-33's and Su-25UTG's are there for several weeks of training. They used to train in Crimea (Saki or Novofederovka) but their new training center will be Eysk.
